I have come to understand that any social reform is possible only by exposing the younger generation to quality education. It is also my imperative to train them in Christian morality and ethical convictions.I started the Seven Boroughs Youth Association with the concept of social engineering in mind. As I mentioned earlier, it started as an association in Trivandrum and neighbouring places. It is now headquartered in the library at Karuvatta, where it is monitored by a gifted social worker from Don Bosco and efficient local volunteers.Children need guidance. The library staff is attempting to give the best possible guidance to these kids. Furthermore, children in the spring of their youth need love, care, and recognition like never before.

The Constitution of India seeks to guarantee equal rights to education for all her citizens. However, for children in remote villages, this remains a distant dream.  Even though there are many educational institutions, poor people cannot afford to study there.

Our library at Karuvatta has a lot of potential. We can accommodate over 50 kids who can read and do their homework. It was with this conviction in mind that we started the library over 20 years ago, giving kids a place to concentrate on their homework and reading.

The ability to read and write goes a long way in the development drive of any society. More importantly, it exposes the once-illiterate to the joy of reading. However, building a literate society requires steady, sequential steps. As the saying goes, ” Rome was not built in a single day, and no major project can be accomplished in a single stroke “.
